Gregory’s style could best be described as Modern Eclectic. He looks at each project as an amalgam of raw materials that can be used to sculpt an individual space in such a way that it meets the expectations of the client while adding significant value to the space. In other words, the material itself has a personality and feel to it. “Texture, color, shape are all part of the raw ingredients that, if used intelligently and thoughtfully will allow me to create a beautifully functional room for you to enjoy”
As the child of a carpenter he quickly became his fathers “slave” as he would put it. Mostly doing the dirty work. Demolition, clean up, carrying materials from the truck etc… While attending school for fine arts and art history his focus gravitated towards sculpture culminating in a BFA from Albany State University. His path to sculpture, in hindsight makes perfect sense. After graduating high school he worked in a stone quarry, quarrying bluestone from a mountain in northern PA. This would be the beginning of a lifelong love and appreciation for stone.
While in college he worked as an Estate manager charged with performing all sorts of tasks from gardening to maintaining the hot tub, pool and other equipment on the estate. If something broke I had to find a way to fix it myself. As an assistant to an art work picture framer he learned the finer meticulous aspects of handling fine art pieces. Museum carpenter, plaster restoration, metal fabrication foundry work to name a few more.
Gregory’s home design experience began with kitchen design. From this baseline of knowledge he branched out into other rooms but has always been specialized in kitchen and bath design. With over 20 years of experience in the NYC luxury market Gregory has successfully completed well over 200 projects ranging from Manhattan and East Hampton to the north west down to San Francisco and surrounding bay area.
