ABOUT THE PROJECT

A very unusual project for me was the opportunity to design a kitchen for a production studio.  This project had an entirely different set of challenges, requirements, and expectations than any of my other present or previous clients.  The project began with LG Appliances from South Korea.  They were the driving force so I had to work around their appliances and general requirements.  At the same time the design needed to be adaptable to the needs and ever changing dynamics of the TV production Studio that would be home to this project.  One of the more difficult engineering issues Ive ever been presented with was the need for this massive L - shaped island to be completely movable.  The island is designed in two sections that lock together.  Each large rectangle is sitting on top of a large steel plate with many caster wheels distributed evenly.  This allows for the production company to wheel the island out of the way in order to manage certain clear shots with needed.
