GREAT NECK (2016)

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This home is a young couples first house.  We removed all partitions in the living/dining and kitchen areas to create a nice lofty communal room for the family.  The kitchen is minimalistic white in order to become more of a background rather than a focal point.  The color is introduced as furniture, light fixtures and even the flowers blooming outside of the large bay window.

The Italian cabinetry is topped off with a white glass countertop.  Even the appliances (Miele) are finished in white glass.  The one and only non white material in this design is the backsplash.  This textural porcelain softens things a bit in a sea of white.  There is a fine line between creating a nice minimalistic design and inadvertently setting the scene for some violent Stanley Kubrick film.  No fruit was harmed during the shooting of the is project.
